Anh’s Brush with Fame

Entertainment - Aus  , ,

Charismatic comedian and writer Anh Do loves to paint portraits as well as getting to know people. Anh’s Brush with Fame combines the two. For Anh to do his best work as a portrait painter, he needs to find the soul of the person, so while painting, he digs deep into their psyche and discovers what makes them tick.  As he talks through their life, childhood and formative years, along with the humour, Anh unearths their deepest darkest secrets.  Our celebrities also share private and rare archival material, such as personal photos and videos, which further paints a very different picture of them. It’s a journey for both the artist and his subject.  As Anh chats to them and discovers more about their past, this affects the way he paints their portrait. He also bonds with them as they find they have shared experiences and hardships. It’s a cathartic, emotional ride between the two of them as they share laughter, tears and exclusive stories. The emotional journey that Anh and his guest are on, leads to the final big reveal – when the celebrity finally gets to see their completed portrait. Will they like Anh’s version of them? It’s a dramatic moment of truth each time. SERIES 1 In this series, Anh gets up close and personal with a number of Australian celebrities. Signing up to sit in the chair are Amanda Keller, Jimmy Barnes, Magda Szubanski, Craig McLachlan, Anthony Mundine, Kyle Sandilands, Kate Ceberano and Dr. Charlie Teo. SERIES 2 Featuring Jessica Mauboy, Ian Thorpe, Ray Martin, Rosie Batty, Anthony Field, Megan Gale, Kurt Fearnley, Tina Arena, Jack Charles and Dr. Fiona Wood, Anh invites us to join him in an intimate and revealing conversation with some of our biggest names.

Entertainment - Aus  ,

Two complete strangers meet for the very first time and undress each other in a darkened room. With just 30 minutes to get to know each other, there is no time to lose. A matchmaking social experiement based on psychological research suggesting that you can accelerate the process of attraction by encouraging physical and emotional contact, UNDRESSED puts the theory to the test.  Challenging preconceptions about race and sexuality, each half hour episode on UNDRESSED will observe two couples meeting, undressing and lying on a bed together before being asked to decide… are they interested in seeing each other again or not? On a minimal set, a large screen gives instructions and questions to encourage physical and emotional interaction. Images lead us through their personal histories, and directions encourage their interaction. Within moments of meeting, they must undress each other. Todd Samspon’s Life on the Line

Entertainment - AusFactual - Aus  ,

Todd Sampson puts his faith in science to the ultimate test in a series of epic experiments, trusting his life to the Laws of Physics. In this series, Todd explores the fascinating world of Physics, embarking on a series of challenges to reveal these powerful forces. With the help of some of Australia’s leading young physicists, along with a first-class construction and safety team, each episode follows Todd’s journey from the kernel of an idea through to a daring experiment that will show Physics in action on an incredible scale. Todd literally puts his life in the hands of some of natures fundamental laws: Sliding through a blazing inferno, the physics of Heat Transfer and the incredible heat capacity of water should save Todd from being burnt alive. Facing an AK-47 rifle at point blank range underwater, it’s the Resistance of the densely-packed water molecules that should stop the bullet before it reaches Todd’s body. Bungee jumping with two interwoven phone books intersecting his bungee cord, it’s the Friction between the pages that should prevent Todd from plummeting to his death. Holding a one-tonne wrecking ball to his face and letting it go, it’s the Law of Conservation of Energy that should prevent Todd’s skull from being crushed when the ball swings back towards him. Scaling a 13-storey building with only vacuum cleaners and suction pads, it’s the awesome power of Air Pressure that should allow Todd to climb like Spiderman to the top. Strapped to an enormous bunch of helium balloons, the force of Buoyancy should life Todd into the sky and prevent him from crashing back to earth. These bold experiments are at the mercy of weather conditions, human error, mechanical failure and Todd’s own willpower. Yet the science they are based on remains absolute. It’s one thing to believe in the science and another thing to bet your life on it.
